Meet The Speakers

mark

Mark Bass is a partner in the Washington, D.C., office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where he works with public and private technology companies at all stages of growth. He also represents venture capital funds, private equity firms, and investment banks in financings and public offerings.

Mark's practice focuses on corporate and securities law (including general corporate representation), public offerings, public and private mergers and acquisitions, and private equity and venture capital financings. He has significant capital markets experience, representing issuers and underwriters in initial public offerings and follow-on offerings. Mark also counsels public companies on public disclosures and compliance with SEC and exchange rules. In addition, Mark has experience counseling clients on U.S. government matters. He assists companies with compliance with federal regulations, obtaining and maintaining security clearances to perform work on classified contracts, and issues arising from changes of control with mergers and acquisitions. Prior to law school, Mark worked at the U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

 

amanda

Amanda Pollard is an associate at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where she advises technology and life sciences companies at all stages of growth. She also represents financial and strategic investors in equity investments in high-growth companies.

Amanda’s practice focuses on corporate and securities law, including company formation, founder and employee equity issuances, corporate governance, venture capital financings, secondary sale transactions, initial public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and other strategic transactions. Amanda leverages her experience in the firm’s London office to advise U.S., UK and European companies and investors on cross-border transactions. Prior to attending law school, Amanda was a writer, editor, and video producer at Crutchfield, a consumer electronics retailer. Amanda is practicing virtually in Virginia, where she is licensed.

Seth Cowell is senior counsel in the Washington, D.C., office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where he counsels and represents domestic and foreign entities in national security-related areas, including matters before the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). He also counsels clients on matters relating to federal government contracting under the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), and other laws and regulations concerning domestic and international business.

After graduating from law school, Seth was commissioned into the U.S. Air Force (USAF) as a member of the USAF Judge Advocate General’s Corps. His last active duty

assignment was at the Electronic Systems Center at Hanscom Air Force Base, where he served as government contracts counsel to small research and development (Small Business Innovation Research, or SBIR) programs and several multibillion-dollar programs. After separating from active duty, Seth continued to advise on government contracts, fraud, and ethics as an Air Force civilian at Hanscom. He then took a position as the senior civilian legal advisor to a Department of Defense (DoD) organization tasked with supporting the USS Cole and 9/11 trials, as well as counter-threat finance. In 2015, Seth joined the National Security Division (NSD) of the Department of Justice (DOJ) as an operations attorney, where he prepared and presented applications under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA).
